April 15, 2011: We had hoped to have our walkathon this year in May, during National Brain Tumor Awareness Month, but Logan Township (NJ) has yet to get back to us about using the recreational park again as our base of operation. Because of this delay, May is extremely unlikely. Stay tuned...
April 15, 2011: We received an anonymous corporate grant for Matthew's Miles to benefit the ABTA in the amount of $5,500. This raises our total for 2011 over $6,000! For all seven plus years, we've now raised over $126,000 for pediatric brain tumor research and awareness.
November 2, 2010: Delsea Regional High School had their satellite walk for the upcoming 8th Annual Matthew's Miles in October 2010. They raised a total of $556. We'll add that total to our 8th Annual Matthew's Miles star when we reset our counts for 2011.
July 11, 2010: Please help Mira's Movement : The National Childhood Brain Tumor Prevention Act is currently working its way through Congress. If passed, this Act would allocate $25 million a year for five years for the FIRST comprehensive research into the causes of brain tumors in children, including genetics, nutrition, the environment, and more. It will give us answers about better treatments and even prevention. To get this legislation passed we need your help.

As a first prize winner, the Passarella family will receive a $1,000 check for their chosen charity, the Childrens Cancer Foundation through Matthew's Miles.

All miles walked by participants in Matthew’s Miles will be logged and sent to the International Brain Tumor Alliance—in support of their Brain Tumor Awareness Week project - the Walk Around the World for Brain Tumors. Organizations and individuals who are doing sponsored (or unsponsored) walks will "donate" their mileage so it can uploaded to a professionally designed Awareness Week website. The idea is to reach a target of 40,000 kilometres (25,000 miles) which is the circumference around the World at the Equator. July 16, 2006: Matthew was at Johns Hopkins to have his cyst drained in an emergency procedure (due to hydrochephalus caused by the pressure of the cyst fluid), and before he checked out, he stopped to visit the Children's Cancer Foundation benefactor wall and the "brick" named in his honor for the money we raised in 2005 for CCF.
